This is the type of Aloe mostly used in commercial products with aloe content available today.

Plant reaches maturity in four years when the leaves are harvested. The plants can be harvested every 6-8 weeks by removing 3 to 4 leaves per plant.

Leaves may be frozen and used defrosted. I have also successfully pickled them in colloidal silver. Fresh leaves may last several days wrapped and kept in a fridge.
